A metropolitan university is located in and integrated with and serves its metropolitan region. It drives the social, economic, and intellectual vitality of the city, while the city provides a living laboratory for applied research, experiential learning, and community engagement.

The network of metropolitan universities that we are creating will be a strategic alliance of institutionally-aligned universities across different global cities, with core characteristics of Shared Identity, Global Perspectives, Diversity of Member Profiles, Focus on Applied Impact on policy, community well-being, innovation districts, and workforce development.
