Global Consortium of Metropolitan Universities 2023 Annual Conference and Presidents’ Forum

The Global Consortium of Metropolitan Universities （GCMU） is a collaborative initiative aiming to bring together leading metropolitan universities to promote the sustainable development of higher education and enhance the influence of member universities on international cities.

The 2023 theme is “University · City · Future”, and this year’s event was the first face-to-face gathering for the GCMU community since its first event held in 2021. The forum not only brings your insights on one of the four topics chosen by the GCMU General Council, but also provide a platform discussing the strategic direction of the Consortium and key issues of interest in the current world.

Theme 1: Metropolitan Universities – of the Cities, for the Cities, and by the Cities

Chair: Prof. Reggie Kwan Ching-ping, Provost of Hong Kong Metropolitan University

Interactive Participant: Prof. Hongliang Gu, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice President of East China Normal University

Theme 4: Universities and Innovative International Research Cooperation

Chair: Prof. Kaijun Wu, Vice President of Guangzhou University
