About GCMU
Considering the growing trend of collaboration among cities in Greater Bay Area, Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao universities have been focusing increasingly on developing innovative and versatile talents in order to meet the region’s social development needs, as well as exporting and leading technological innovations that propel the technological revolution in the region. In recent years, this vision has become widely recognized as a strategic consensus.
It is intended to develop high-quality educational and research resources from elite universities in the three regions, to deepen educational exchange, and to support the development of the Greater Bay Area and the national “Belt and Road” initiative. The inaugural chairman of GCMU is Rector Jun Liu from the City University of Macau, and the GCMU Secretariat is based at the City University of Macau.
GCMU FOUNDING MEMBERS
In 2021, the City University of Macau initiated the establishment of the Global Consortium of Metropolitan Universities (GCMU) in collaboration with the Metropolitan University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen University, and Guangzhou University.
